Reach out and Read

Promoting literacy starts at a young age—well before formal education begins. Oakwood Pediatrics continues to take part in the effort to encourage reading through the Reach Out and Read program and Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin. This is a global program in 53 countries with over 208,000 books distributed annually - and right here in Oshkosh.

Evidence-based, Reach Out and Read is a unique project designed to prepare America's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together. Since 2014,  our medical providers have prescribed more than 20,817 books to our clinic’s youngest patients.

Funded completely by philanthropy, the Reach Out and Read program promotes literacy, paving the way for children to grow up with books and a love of reading. Thank you to the staff, community members, and donors like you that support this program, giving area children the resources they need for success.
