Grants and Scholarships

Internal Grants

Mercy Health Foundation awards grants to support mission-based programs and services that enhance the quality of health care services for the patients and families served by Ascension Mercy Hospital and Ascension Medical Group clinics in the greater Oshkosh area.

Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis and must be submitted by the 15th of each month. Each grant application will be reviewed by the Foundation and Hospital leadership and ratified by the Mercy Health Foundation Board.

Capital grants for departments are also considered during these grant cycles. Each grant application will be reviewed by the Mercy Health Foundation Grants Committee and ratified by the Mercy Health Foundation Board.

Ascension Medical Group Scholarship

Each year, the Ascension Medical Group Scholarship team offers awards for academic study to eligible Ascension NE Wisconsin employees or employee children (Calumet Hospital, Mercy Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Ascension Medical Group Clinics) from area high schools (public, private, or home-schooled) who have demonstrated excellence in scholastic achievement, high moral character and a stated interest in human health service careers. In conjunction with Ascension NE Wisconsin's mission, vision and values, special consideration will be given to those students in need.
Only high school seniors (or equivalent) employed by or with parents employed by Ascension NE Wisconsin who intend to pursue a human health service career will be eligible to apply for a scholarship, which will be made available for the subsequent academic year.
Applications must be received by midnight on April 9, 2021. The review team will select recipients by May 1st. The awards will be made at high school graduation or award ceremonies. If you have questions, please contact Jennifer Van Abel at

Dr. C. Christopher Wallace Endowment Fund

In his honor, the Dr. C. Christopher Wallace Physician Fund was established in 1995 through a generous gift from Network Health System. The fund supports costs associated with Ascension physicians, Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP) traveling to third-world countries on medical missions or to attend retreats which enable the physician to reflect upon their feelings on why they chose to go into the medical healing field.

Grant applications need to be postmarked or received by November 1 of each year.

Wallace Physician’s Endowment grants were awarded to the following Ascension employees for participating in medical mission trips in 2020:

Dr. Matt Kraemer, Elias Pina, Dominican Republic

Lori Lang, Elias Pina, Dominican Republic

Sandra Schaffer, Elias Pina, Dominican Republic
