Patients with reading barriers receive the help they need.
Some patients at Ascension Borgess Hospital have reading barriers that make it difficult for them to read documents about home care following a hospital stay. Before a patient leaves the hospital, especially after a long stay, they can become overwhelmed with the handouts and instructions from caregivers regarding their proper home recovery care.
Your gifts to the Adolescent Outpatient Behavioral Health fund made the purchase of a smart TV possible! With this purchase, caregivers are now able to show patients videos about their home recovery care, mental health and other related materials.
Many patients have now used the smart TV to learn more about their at-home recovery care. One patient with ADHD said, “watching it on TV kept my attention and helped break it up so I didn't get as distracted by other things.” Another patient stated that they, “enjoy seeing videos rather than just sitting and talking.”
