Oak Tree Gala: New this year - Spirit of St. Joseph Award
Please mark your calendars to attend the Oak Tree Gala presented by the Ascension Genesys Foundation on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Riverfront Conference Center in Flint.
The evening will feature entertainment, cocktails, decadent hors d'oeuvres, an exquisite four-course meal and a silent auction.
New this year is the introduction of the Spirit of St. Joseph Award. The award will be presented to a highly respected physician or physician group who has rendered long and noteworthy service to our community.

2022 DeAnna Outstanding Research Award recipient recognized
Dr. Alexa Marquez, DO, was recently recognized as the 2022 DeAnna Outstanding Research Award recipient. She was honored for her work (in collaboration with Dr. Tarik Wasfie, MD, FACS) investigating the role of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in pregnant patients with acute abdominal pain that requires surgical management.
This award is presented to OB-GYN resident physicians in recognition of their outstanding or novel research contributions.
Dr. Jennifer DeAnna, DO, Chair of the Ascension Genesys Hospital OB-GYN department and OB-GYN Residency Research Chair, established this award through a generous donation to the Ascension Genesys Foundation.
Church donations benefit cardiology programs at Ascension Genesys hospital
A big “thank you” goes out to the Christian Women’s Connection (CWC) group at New Creation Church of God of Flint! They sponsored a fundraiser that directly benefited cardiology programs at the Ascension Genesys Heart Institute.
Felicia Watson, an Ascension Genesys associate and CWC member, spearheaded this vital initiative.
The fundraiser, which occurred during February 2022, collected $1,000 that will be used to support cardiology education and other heart-healthy community wellness programs.
