Child Life Services
Child Life Specialists are healthcare providers who help your child understand their illness or injury while in the hospital. This includes explaining procedures in a way your child can understand and providing extra support for your child during a procedure. They ease your child's discomfort during treatments and hospital visits. These professionals promote effective coping through play, self-expression activities like painting and drawing, as well as age-appropriate medical preparation and educational tools. They are also trained to talk about grief and death with families and/or children who may be facing a terminal illness or are coping with a recent loss.
