Remote heart monitoring reduces need for hospitalization!
Your gifts have made a huge impact on cardiology patients. Thank you for your gift that could potentially save a life!
Donations to the Cardiology Reinvestment Program at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital were used to purchase a CardioMEMS Heart Failure Monitoring System.
This new technology allows physicians to monitor a patient’s heart in real-time and make any adjustments in care immediately. This means better care for heart patients, fewer visits to the emergency room, and fewer heart failure hospitalizations.
The CardioMEMS Heart Failure Monitoring system works by inserting a sensor smaller than the size of a paperclip into a pulmonary artery through a routine procedure. Once the sensor is inserted, the patient can take their own reading at home – it only takes a few minutes. Once the reading is completed, it is sent to a secure website where the physician can monitor the silent signs of heart failure.
