New technology helps reduce anxiety for breast cancer patients
Your gifts made it possible to purchase a new Mammotome Devicor device at Ascension St. John Hospital! This new technology is used for specimen examination from patient biopsies. It verifies that nodular asymmetry tissue or breast calcifications have been removed from the breast.
Donations to the Joan Gehrke Endowment for Medical Oncology were used to acquire this state-of-the-art device. It helps to reduce anxiety for breast cancer patients because the time needed for the procedure is significantly reduced. The Mammotome Devicor device produces high-quality results in a shorter time frame than previous technology. Staff commented that this new equipment creates an efficient workflow for both the patients and staff members.
